New talent is everything.

Without a decent crop of sickeningly ever-more clever animation graduates each year, the industry would curl up and die.

Whether they’re fresh from college or the product of a graduate training scheme such as the Channel 4 Animator in Residence scheme, we’re here to showcase your work and provide advice – via the first ever Channel 4 / Skillset Skills Surgery – on your next move in the animation industry.

About this year’s BAF ident

Frater Films> Play large version (500 kbps)
> Play small version (200 kbps)

The ident for this year’s festival has been created by animation collective Fraterfilms, otherwise known as Benji Davies and Jim Field. Check it out at the festival and on the BAF website – but better still come to the festival and hire Benji and Jim now! They’re more cheap than an aviary in mating season.

About Fraterfilms
Benji Davies, who was Animator in Residence at the NMPFT from February – May 2004, is now directing his AIR film, The Grotlyn, at Studio AKA. Benji has worked extensively as an illustrator (including work for top children’s publisher Usborne Books) and animator, including work on DFG’s Blood Matters series for Channel 4. His graduation film, A Bowl of Soup, is also playing at this year’s festival.

Jim Field met Benji at university and has since collaborated on DFG’s Animated Minds series for Channel 4, having animated Fish on a Hook, one of the films screened as part of the original series (and playing at this year’s festival). Jim has also provided illustrations for several national newspapers as part of his involvement with the collective Monster Illustration.

Benji and Jim are ready, willing, friendly(ish) and available… find out more at www.fraterfilms.com
